Ravelry is a wonderful resource for those who knit or crochet. Since I have only been crocheting for about a month, I find it to be a great place to get tips on how to make my stitches look nicer, find patterns that fit my skill level and get ideas for my next project.
It does take a few days to get an invitation. The wait is currently 3 days. But once the invitation is in your in box the fun begins!
You can keep a 'notebook' of projects that other people can see. You can rate how happy you are with the project, add details about size of needles or hooks, the yarn used, the picture and how much you have completed. There is a weekly newsletter to catch up on how Ravelry is growing, and what events are in the area. Patterns and projects are also searchable and can be marked as favorites if you wish to try them at some point.
My screen name is CrimsonCat on that forum, so if you are looking for someone to add to your 'friends' look me up! To visit the site click on the Ravelry title at the top of this post.
