The Portland Knitting & Crochet Show

A friend and I went to the Knit and Crochet show after she got off work today. It was a learning experience for me since I have been crocheting since the 4th of July and knitting since Labor Day. Nonetheless crafting in general is old hat for me and the company is definitely the crafty sort.

There weren't any demonstrations or classes going when we were there, but there was still a good crowd for a Friday late afternoon. We strolled through all of the different displays and met many very nice people. Four of the places we lingered in a little longer are featured here.

Laurie and Sarah were at the Crochet Liberation Front booth. I have seen Laurie on Ravelry but since I have never actually posted on Ravelry – just lurked – I introduced myself. I purchased a window cling from here and got Laurie's autograph. If you are ever on Ravelry check out the Crochet Liberation Front for a fun view of yarn work and VERY friendly folk.

My friend purchased fiber from two different shops. First we went to Crown Mountain Farms where Klaus had some alpaca fiber that will be nice for a neutral winter scarf.

We also visited a very outgoing group of gals at Abstract Fiber. They will also be on the grass at The Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival (OFFF) My buddy and I are going to this show as well and look forward to seeing Abstract Fiber again. The colors they have available are amazing. Plus they also have a very unique bookmark business card with fluff attached as a bonus!

I purchased a 3 ounce bag of brightly colored fluff from The Village Spinning & Weaving Shop .This shop stood out about because of their selection. They probably had the biggest set up. They also had an amazing selection of books, yarn, fiber, and supplies for yarn crafters.

The Knitting & Crocheting Show is happening through Sunday afternoon at the Portland Convention Center. It is well worth the traffic to visit.
